Fotogen - re the kitchen unit being out of stock at JR Leisure: Were you looking to buy it online?   We were there today, and they had stacks of them, so the website may not be giving out the correct information.

I had considered it but, a) don't really need it, and b) have no room. Might look at one when in Aldi though. Their website does seem to lag behind as I discovered when buying Freelander.

About HiGear and Gelert...

Back in my younger day HiGear was a big brand, I still have a good HiGear sleeping bag. We bought a HiGear cooking stove for our Duke of Edinburgh's Award group, from an independent camping shop, about 5/6 years ago. After being sat on(!) the meths burner was cracked and useless so I tried to track down the number for HiGear to see if I could get a replacement. It was an awkward-sized hole in the stove and a Trangia burner was too large. The shop where we bought it had no leads but I phoned Tiso's in Glasgow who told me that HiGear was owned by Gelert. They got me a phone number for Gelert. I contacted them and gave the whole story. Unfortunately they were unable to help me at all. Eventually I found a Highlander meths burner from another independent shop, which fitted it perfectly.

So I was surprised to read that you can still buy stuff with the HiGear logo on it... maybe the brand has been resurrected?

I always check Go Outdoors prices against others - more often than not there's someone out there considerably cheaper.

Highlander and HiGear back in the day used to be part of the same company i believe so many of the parts were interchangeable to a degree.
I remember going down for trade shows at their depot and ordering both brands
