We've been wondering exactly this as we've just returned from two nights camping and both days started around 5.30am - despite the kids not getting to bed til nearly 9pm one night.

We have a Vango Tigris which apparently has the lights out fabric, and although it was darker than other tents we've been in at Go Outdoors, it definitely  wasn't my idea of dark.

We're toying with dyeing the pods as I'm also a pretty bad sleeper. I took my mask which helped me, but not the children. Otherwise I think it's pop-up pods for us.

My son has a Gro blackout blind for his bedroom which is the darkest thing I've ever come across. It's not rubber-coated but appears to be a really tight weave and makes his room dark as night. I'm toying with fashioning something from it but it will be expensive to do all of the pods as it's about £25 per blind and I'd need several per pod.

If anyone has dyed their pods I'd be really interested to hear how they got on.

we bought some black king size bed sheets from asda £7 each and pin and drape them over the sleeping pods, use nappy pins and just pin to the pod material not the actual tent !!!

Scooby40 did this work or did it cause extra condensation?
