These tents just reinforce my view that an increasing number of campers want all the comfort of a country cottage - but on the cheap..  Sticking a normal domestic bed in a tent does not camping make...  Why go for something that's so far removed from what I'd consider camping - getting by with much less kit and a lot more ingenuity...

You may well be right smashing69, but I think you may be mising the point of these type of 'camping' holidays.  I think a lot of people stay in these type of pre-erected tents as they are cheaper than staying in an apartment or cottage & for many people this is the difference between going on holiday or not. Probably most of the people staying in these type of tents are not campers & won't be on this site, but I certainly woudn't discount staying in one in the future.  If you cannot manage the transportation or your own tent & gear to France, Spain etc., then this would seem a good option & I think it is a brilliant idea for families who don't do camping.  It is an affordable, relaxed & fun family holiday -& you never know it might even introduce people to the idea of camping with their own tent  - albeit with a little less equipment.

I enjoyed looking at these tents & how they are set up inside so thank you for the photos.

Totally agree! I wouldn't mind staying in one if we went to Spain or somewhere.

We camp reguarly in the UK without electric hookup and often at sites where you only have a wc and a cold tap.

The Safari tents are a treat for us as we can still camp and have the outdoor feeling but not have the hassel of towing all our kit in the trailer.  I wouldn't stay in a pre erect tent in the UK.  These actually work out a little more expensive that a basic static van for the week that we are going but i'd far rather stay in a tent than a van.

I would argue that it's definitely not country cottage comfort anyway.  No running water, still having to walk to the loos & showers, no telly, basic grill & hob cooking facilities.

Diversity makes camping interesting, doesn't it.  I just love watching people arrive on site all with different modes of transport, with their unique set-up and sometimes marvel at how much stuff can be fitted in a relatively small car!  I'd hate to see a field full of the same tents, same gear.

Loved the safari tent pics and may consider it next year.

Here's a link for THAT wine rack - looks like they are out of stock ATM

You'll have to pop round for a cuppa then, we'll be there at the same time!  Our pitch (fingers crossed we get the same one!) is a 30 second walk round the corner!!

Each to their own and all that..but if that's the level of comfort you'd need to be persuaded into a tent, camping's not really for you?

The friends we met who stayed in the safari tent at La Garangeoire (where I took these pics) weren't campers, they never proclaimed to be.  But the kids wanted to try camping, and rather than invest in all the gear and then find they didn't like it they decided to try Eurocamoing instead....and for a few £s extra they got the chance to stay in one of the Safari tents - and who can blame them?!  They loved it, the kids loved it - they may well go out and buy all their own gear now?!

and just maybe people book them for the fun aspect too.  I wouldn't mind staying in one at all but that would not detract from our usual camping plus we stayed in Euro sites/eurocamp pre errects many times when our kids were little and our own very basic tent set up not up to a full week with two adults and two children.

Why  not view them just as they are a fun way way to spend some days under canvas, at not too high a cost.  You also get all the fun of a campsite too which suits many people, especially those with children, when compared to your average hotel!

Lewlincs- you'll definitely have to pop over for a cup of tea. My son will have his tenth birthday while we are there and my friend will be celebrating her 50th in the next door tent a couple of days later.

Promise we won't be too loud though!

LOL we definitely will!  Have you been to La Garangeoire before?  If you haven't, you'll LOVE it, it's one of the best holidays we've ever had.  It's been accredited with 5 stars recently, according to it's Facebook page.  Quite rightly so

Not done garangoire before. We are taking our own kit to guyonniere in august which is just down the road. First time in the vendee & first time taking our own tent abroad for us. We've previously done statics or euro tents in duinrell in holland and des ormes in Brittany.

I expect we will pop in to garangeoire for a nosey in august.
