Have read several threads but what do most people do? Have brought an outwell tenneesse 6 after caravanning for years. Had a TT prior to that so never been in a tent!
Must say am very excited but have become a bit use to creature comforts and so not sure what I'm gonna do when it rains. Also where do people store there cooking equipment? Have a cadac and a camping gaz stove on legs but do I bring them in every night? I'm confused! Although it doesnt take much!

I cook outside whenever possible. If it's peeing down I put the cooker under the side canopy, right under the apex of the outer edge. It's in the way there but it's the safest place. I do not use a cooker under the curve of the side or next to the wall of either canopy or tent. When not in use the cooker sits under the canopy next to the tent side, as does the gas bottle. If I owned something expensive like a Cadec I'd keep it inside or in the car when not in use.
It's a bit irritating having to move a cooker, sure, but better than setting fire to the tent! I keep all my pots and pans in a box just inside the tent door anyway so it's just the cooker on a stand that moves. A good windshield is essential when cooking outdoors btw otherwise it will take foever. You might consider a windbreak? Oh, and don't use EHU items like a kettle outside in a damp canopy when it's raining. You don't want to be steaming up the inside of the tent either of course so a hob kettle is a better idea in my opinion.
My other tent is a TT btw so yes, I know the difference in convenience! But you just get into a routine with these things tbh. All part of the camping experience!

We bring all our kit into the tent at night too. We have cooked inside the tent on previous occasions when it's been hammering down, but always right in the centre so that the heat is no where near the tent and always with the vents open, and the doors slightly open to let out the heat/condensation/steam. We won't be able to do that any more as we are now camping with an enthusiastic toddler in tow, so I guess if it rains we head to the pub for dinner instead - result!!!

When we started out we used to cook outside under a brolly or the front pegged out . At night we would cover the cooker and stand with a large BBQ cover . Now we have a front extension for the tents and we set up a full kitchen in there ( cooker ,kitchen ,fridge etc ) used to use a kitchen tent but it was a faff :/

Get a tarp and poles - bingo! A covered and ventilated area for cooking. It's that easy.

4 pole windbreak with a Fishing brolly over the top. Table & chair underneath with the cooker on the table!
Done this for years!

I got one of these and i put the sides together to make a cubey type thing - and I leave it all outside and it stays dry - obviously only if you put the top on and then you can fold it back when you cook

I bring my Cadac (and other stoves if used) into the tent every night.
My BBQ stays outside all the time though.
