Even though it rained pretty much non-stop all afternoon we didn't want to miss the opportunity to go as we expected there to be lots of camping gear on display. We had in mind maybe trying & hopefully buying a couple of good reclining chairs, maybe a camping kitchen & have a look at tent carpets. Were we ever disappointed....
There was zilch in the way of camping gear - not even a bl**dy tent peg for sale !!! Pretty much just lots of caravans & motorhomes & a comparitiively tiny amount of tents on show.
Another major reason we made the trip was to see a selection of caravan awnings out, and awning groundsheets.... again we were sorely disappointed. Had I wanted to just see inside lots of caravans & motorhomes I'd as soon have gone to some of the dealers - you don't actually need to pay to have a look there either !
"There is something for everyone with everything from a tent peg to holiday park caravans on display.
Add in the best in outdoor leisure equipment and a host of practical demonstrations along with kids’ entertainment and you have the recipe for a perfect day out."
Harrumph ! Should be had up under the trades descriptions act ! I feel sorry for anyone who travelled a long way. Unless of course they wanted to buy a caravan or a campervan....
Unless you consider a stand with satelite TV to be `camping equipment'
Did you complain though? You could have complained that there was nothing for tent camping despite the promises and asked for your money back - thats what I'd have done anyway.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

Hi Dezzie. Yes I did, but only to the lad at the gate - and not an offical complaint. It was raining too hard & we'd had enough, really didn't want to hang around for ages.
I have already telephoned with the intention of lmaking a proper complaint though. Unfortunately there wasn't anyone taking calls but I've left a message asking for them to return my call.
We went in past yesterday before the official opening(tut tut) As you say all big flash caravans, motor homes etc. We decided not to go back today. They missed a trick not catering for tents and FCs as there is nothing much in this area for the likes of us and I do like to have a nosey. Didn't realise you had to pay as well. Saved ourselves 70 miles round trip.
Quite right La La and dont give up. Some things are worth chasing up. Its expensive enough to do anything nowadays, so its really annoying when people get ripped off like that. Hope you manage to get a refund.

Yes, it was a waste of time for campers unless you happened to want one of the twelve tents on display. The guy showing the tents said he'd brought some camping bits and pieces in his van but hadn't had time to get them out on Friday afternoon as people had been let in before the official opening time and he'd been busy selling tents.
I posted last night in the hope that anyone reading my report might save themselves a trip. It's only a few minutes away for me so no big deal.
I think you've got a point about complaining so I'm going to write as well. Even as I was walking around there was a loudspeaker announcement saying that you could buy everything from a tent peg to a caravan. Well, I couldn't find the tent peg - maybe someone got there before me!
We went and also thought it was a right rip off. As you say, if I wanted to buy a caravan I would have gone to a dealer and you can see much more equipment in Craigdon, for free!
Waste of time and money and I certainly won't be going to anything like that again.
