We use long rock pegs around the base of our Columbia (always inserted at an angle) every time she's used and if we can, delta pegs for the guyropes. In Norfolk a few weeks ago the ground was so hard as they've had no rain for months that the nylon deltas wouldn't go into the ground, so had to use the rock pegs for the guyropes too. We always full guy out too irrespective of the forecast and have the TBSII system in place when we go out and overnight.
It took over an hour trying to get the rock pegs out after the week in Norfolk, with many of the plastic tops giving way to the claw hammer rather than coming out so we'll be adding more washers to replace the plastic tops.
We haven't had to double peg the Columbia yet, but have done with other tents in the past in soft ground. You can also add extra guyropes to help too.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
