The ground seemed to drain really well (it rained most days and nights we were there...) it's softish soil, I don't remember any stoney/rocky bits when we hammered in the 50 odd pegs(a mixture, we use wooden pegs for the main guys and plastic pegs mostly around the sides, we have rock pegs but did not feel the need to use them in the ground) We loved the site, and got around the no shower problem by pulling back the groundsheet inside the Izzy and standing in the trug for a shower.

We sorted it out by putting the first section of a king pole at each corner and had short sticks on the guyrope. Lifted the back wall up enough to make a difference
ahh, that would help thanks, when we first put it up at the festy, we guyed the back to some Hertas fencing, quite high up, and it looked fine, we could not work out why it was baggy this time on level ground!
Quote: Originally posted by cathyh on 23/6/2011Anne - did you try tweaking the centre pole to improve the bagginess? If it is off vertical it can affect the 'bum line' (although I'm sure you did try this)
We did after the first few days, in fact we undid all the guys and pegs and straightened everything out, which helped, but with Dianne's suggestion as well we should have it cracked next time? its quite hard to get it vertical when there is no point of reference inside the tent, so I downloaded a spirit level app on my phone when we came home! Hopefully we will sort it when we put it up at Nantcol? you can all drag your chairs over ,crack a bottle of wine and watch our efforts
The hearts are really simple to make, they take minutes, I sewed three wooden toggles along the ridge each side of the door wall to hang things from, all the chair throws go on the bed each night, and the cushions are used as pillows, so the only extra glamping packing is the fairy lights and hearts, I will bring my sewing bag to Nantcol and we can all have a "Glamping workshop"?
