I hear everyone going on about inferior pegs and i wonder why, we use the bog standard pegs that came with our tent and its never failed us. We've been using these kind of pegs for 3 years and been in some really bad wind and they've been fine.
This was an accident, nothing more and could have happened to anyone.
Pegs shmegs, as long as you put them all in properly and check them regularly in bad winds you'll be fine
