I loved the post jjb.......I'm not an 'old lady' but i remember all those things from my childhood.....apart from the streetcars lol.....a trip on a bus was an outing in itself....maybe it was the fact that I grew up in a small village? I remember taking back the pop bottles to the shop and getting 5p to spend on sweets in return....heaven!!!
I love my cloth nappies (well Millys ones lol!), but haven't yet braved camping with them (that's coming in August!) As for disposing of sposies, we used the eco nappies that degrade, the degradable sacks and then they went (well wrapped) into the household waste bins.
I was never entirely sure if the other campsite residents would appreciate me washing dirty cloth nappies in the campsite washing machine, so I used disposables when camping. Bag and bin as normal. Used cloth ones most of the time at home, but disposables for long days out. Mix and match really. I do the "green" thing more than most, probably, but I'm also a very pragmatic person when it comes to soaking buckets of poo covered nappies outside a tent in 40'C heat.
So disposal of these nappies on a campsite is just the same as at home then; couldn't see a problem with it myself but wanted to check. I can now reassure granddaughter her method is the norm. Thanks all

Growing old disgracefully!!
I would use nappy sacks while camping. I use cloth some of the time but not usually when we are on holiday, also the place we are staying this summer doesn't allow you to hang up washing. So i'd have to tumble dry them!
i use washable nappies now , however dont take them camping as i dont want to be washing nappies on my hol , they take up lots of valuable space in the car and if the weather is rubbish id never dry them out - anyway , i would also just wrap up the nappy in a bag and if they have a baby change room take it to the bins in there if not a lidded bin would be fine.

We used cloth nappies (Mother Ease) with our three, but always used disposables when camping (disposables make life lots simpler when access to laundry is limited)... And to throw them away, they go in a nappy bag and in our bin and then in the campsite bin.
the special bins are for ladythings. us gents don't use them things . capiche .
that said the returning of bottles etc isn't recycling its reusing , higher up the hierarchy of reduce reuse recycle. where reducing the amount of raw materials used from the earth is the better option. reusing and rcycling helps this .

No. I thought she meant a special nappy bin and gents definitely do use them things. But having re-read the post it appears that there was a separate baby change that gents coudl use so I am less bothered. My eldest is only 8 and when he was tiny we seriously did go to places where the only place to change a nappy was in the ladies. It wound me up so I got bit sidetracked. Apologies,
