Not sure about temps, we just find it's a bit nicer and quieter under foot than a bare groundsheet!

If I was bothered about temp in tent, I'd take a canvas tent to the continent rather than a poly one.

When it's hot a non SIG tent really comes into it's own. Forget the carpet....I don't even put down a groundsheet if the grass is good. The sleeping pods have integral groundsheets so they stay dry in whatever weather. If I need more ventilation I'll peg up the draught flaps and let the air in under the flysheet.
