Here in Denmark the saying goes, that the weather is nice and sunny in August, when school starts again. Happens every year.
Which is great for us as we are camping in Denmark this August
DH likes this site for the weather www.yr.no I think weather forecasts are a bit like horoscopes, check out a few and then choose the one you like the best.

You may find this site for the weather useful too:
dmi.dk
It's the weather forecast especially for Denmark.
Where in Denmark are you going?

What annoys me is the fact that the forecast on the internet and the tv can change by the hour. We've given up worrying about it and prepare for every type of weather (probably not snow though in August although you never know)and enjoy it whatever the weather.

Thank you for the weather site tip.
We're going to a few places, some we've been to before and some are new. Probably Skagen, then Grena/Ebeltoft. Over to Copenhagen, Mons Klint, Faaborg or thereabouts, then legoland or Ribe (somewhere fairly close for the ferry back). Any recommendations for campsites or other areas much appreciated as it sounds like you're the person to ask!

Heavy hail and flooding in Edinburgh last night! I know because I thought I would take my children for a lovely trip to eat fish and chips and watch the sea at North Berwick!! Was beautiful when we left Fife! Today it is pouring down again in Fife, but I will not let it get to me. I am going canmping tomorrow to Musselburgh with my kids whatever the weather!!

Hi silvercamp pod, if you come close to Faaborg (just 3 km north of), there is Diernæs Camping, my favourite campsite!!!! I don't know what you prefer, because it's a little quiet site, but it is great - friendly, clean, in a beautiful landscape with a wonderful view over the coast and islands. They've got a little pool - the water was a bit cold still last week, but should be warm in August! For kids (or "big kids" like me...) there is a trampoline too, mine are never bored although it is quiet.
You can see more on
www.diernæs.dk-camp.dk
I don't think you need a reservation there. And it is cheap!
You might even meet me there... I live not far away in Odense and stay many weekends in Diernæs, with or without kids.
When you are in Faaborg, I would recommend to have a walk with the "night watchman", who sings the hour and tells about the town (mostly in Danish, I'm afraid). We heard one of them recently which was great fun, because he is my daughter's school teacher - I have a tread on tent info called "Little green tipi" with pictures. (Can't find out how to make a link!). The last date for the watchman's round is August 21th. It's every night at 9 from the clock tower in the town center.
I also recommend having a walk in "Svanninge Bakker" north of Fåborg, there are some beautiful views over Faaborg and the islands.
Another campsite on Funen I can recommend is Ronæs Camping close to Middelfart, which is at the bridge to Jutland. It is a bit bigger and busier then Diernæs,and I think you need a reservation. It is beautifully situated at a little bay, directly at the beach. Als very clean.
Hope you have a great time in DK, and great weather!Just now it's hot and humid.

The trouble is, as previously stated the BBC/met office weather forecasts are completely unreliable and far from accurate.

Pingvin, have just seen your reply- we stayed in Diernaes way back in 2002 I think but we had no children then- enjoyed the site, it was very friendly, so think it might be a good idea to head back there. The night watchmen sounds a different idea but I think we will be at Faaborg just after that... We'll probably head out to Aero for a day trip and our other favourite activity is the Rogeri cafe, mmmmm as well as Egeskov slot. Can't decide yet whether to take the ferry from Bojden over to Jutland and come up through the bottom back to the ferry or drive up over the Lille belt and go more central- maybe we decide that later and investigate the other campsite you recommended. We're very excited about our trip, it will be our 4th time camping in Denmark and we've always had such a brilliant time.
Have a good trip to the UK.
