You can do ANYTHING on a campfire that you can do at home (and more probably!). We take a wok and rub soap on the outside of it before we use it to make it easier to clean.
We also have a big cast iron pot that we take. You can put it directly on the fire.

The secret of Guide & Scout camps, it does make such a difference. I do it with ours when I use the gas stove as well.
