Me too. I can certainly see the benefits of a caravan, even for me.... if I could afford one I'd possibly go for it.... but I think I'd still miss my tents! Hope you get something sorted soon.
Raffle/ auction/ give away dog to local rescue OR kennels, that is what we are doing this time. Gets rid of two problems. Why duvet? Unless you can fold it into a 10x10x10 cm space... leave it lol
------------- 2011! Easter Kiln Park Tenby, June half term Verwood
August Whitefield Forest IOW.... excited!!!!!
We love Woodbridge Inn Pewsey! Its our best yet!
Still rather new to this camping lark!
We put the duvets in bags and took the air out and they went down very small. But the tent and the Kampakazi took up most of the room in the boot. But with every cloud etc, i have booked to have a towbar fitted on fri morning and that is with the holiday money we saved and we can manage to get to scarborough C & CC in mid august. So will book that after fri. So, maybe things will be okey in the end, Scarborough is not a patch on Looe, but at least its a week away. But considering taking myself off with the dog on wed to windermere to chill ( I think we need it lol)
But really thinking of caravan buying over the winter.
Janiebabes, I see you're off to Whitefield Forest - my brother has been there for the past couple of years and absolutely loves it - we almost went but chickened out and instead opted for Cornwall. Maybe we'll venture to IOW next year! Dogscenturion, glad to hear you have sorted something else out - if the trailer works for you then you can save yourself the expense of a caravan and instead have lots of camping holidays next year to make up for your disappointment this year!
Well, I am surprised that people would be so superior about only taking basic kit...that is great if there are a couple of adults, I remember that pre kids we used to go with tiny tent, bedding, spare pants and beer. All fun. But now there are 7 of us, including a baby and we can't do that anymore :) So the Ford Galaxy has just been fitted with a roof box that closely resembles a sarcophagus that will doubtless be filled to bursting point.
We are also using EHU for the first time ( that is real EHU, nit an extension lead from someone's static caravan....yes, I know....I did tell DH it was a bad idea) and I confess to being more than happy with that choice, mainly because I want to be able to plug in the cool box and occasionally let the kids watch something on the iPad....and yes, they do love to be outdoors but it's my holiday too and I want to be able to distract them sometimes!
The thing to remember is that camping is awesome no matter how much we tote along with us and the main thing is that we enjoy it and don't come back having spent a week miserable because we missed our home comforts.
