Another Khyamper here, with both the well worn XXL and this years Excelsior Motor-dome added to the stable. Once you go quick erect, hard to go back to the other options.
------------- Yesterday is already a dream and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
i got a kyham montreal 6dl from somerset camping nice and big and suprisingly stable in the wind when pegged out correctly altough its started to leak around the windows on our last trip but it did rain for 2 days solid and there was a small stream underneath us lol
they were sued by outwell and have gone into administration which is why they are not so widely available
thats what we were told which is a crying shame as they make amazing tents with a build quality that would equally rival the outwells at a fraction of the price
------------- camping sets you free !!!
June - isle of wight
July - devon
and anyway anyhow or anywhere in between
If you contact Khyam (or purchase through their site - link added in a previous post - they are actually Somerset Camping (I recently had to contact them for something and their customer services explained this).
We've been Khyam Classic XL owners since 2001, we started off with the burgundy one, then sold that (it's still going strong) when they brought out the one with the side door which we are still using.
We're just back from the south of France where it was subjected to gale force winds for two days, prolonged torrential rain on two occasions and blistering sun. When we got it back and put it up in the garden for a hose down and check over we remarked that it was still as good as new in looks and fixtures and fittings.
So we won't be buying a new one soon but we fancy the Screenhouse for protection from mossies of an evening and we're glad we'll still be able to buy one from the site mentioned in this thread.
My son has a Khyam Yale. Lovely big tent, nice and stable and good quality seams and zips. Not enough windows for me, but he's a Ray Mears style camper who often goes camping with mates to climb mountains and they don't sit in the tent even when it's pouring with rain, so it suits him perfectly.
I'm not sure which way round it is Pillsley but when I contacted the number on the Khyam website to enquire about a footprint, the girl explained that they were just updating the Somerset Camping website. I then mentioned that there had been a thread on here re Somerset Camping going bust but she explained that it was only the caravan side of their business and that they were the camping side which was being revamped.
