Hi again
We took our outwell Idaho xl out today for a test run
Now I need help :(
At both ends I can not seem to keep the skirt close to the ground to peg it down, both ends seem to be a little to high?
Now we are new to this :)
Outwell do not have the video on there web site any more and can not find any on you tube
We don't know if the tent should run straight all the way down side or poles come out a bit.
Went up ok just can not peg the 2 ends down
Any help would be great
Thanks
Darren

Hi
First off were you on a level site as uneven ground and/or sloping ground can cause it to pitch oddly. I would try to get all the poles in a straight line if possible and pegged so the fabric is tight between the poles and even on each side of the roof bend and tighten the tension straps. At the ends try and peg the corners so they are even both sides and then peg the middle of the ends down and tension the straps so they pull down and not away from the tent the guys lines will hold the fabric taught. The more you try to pull the fabric away from the tent at the ends the more it will lift off the ground. Also the older the tent gets the stiffer the fabric becomes so the harder it is to get it pitched nicely. Next time you pitch it may all go Ok, but to be honest I wouldnt worry too much about it

Hope this helps

Hi fellow gooner :)
Was a slope, nothing big but a slope all the same.
As there is no video any were we had to look a pics on eBay and other sites. I wanted to know really if the sides should all be straight. Only way I can put it is when pegging corners down the middle to pegging points were very high? Is this because of the slope?
We all panicked thinking that we done wrong!!!
Shame you can not get inner parts as we would have liked to take one of the rooms out and have the curtain put in there ie 2 curtains
As I'm disabled more room one side for us 2 and 3 kids other side
Really hope we get it pegged down tight to the floor when we go away?? Nice tent though plenty of room. And we got it in the bag first time :)

you may also have pulled the tensioning straps too tight, this will pull the poles in, which in turn will raise them higher leaving a larger gap between the skirt and the ground. Other than that then it could be down to the slope you were pitching on

Did not use the straps!! I take it there the ones in the corner. So if I loosen them down it will give me extra length on the bottom of tent
Should have asked the guy I got it of but he said watch the DVD on outwell web site. But it's gone now.
See your point about slope as well thanks
Just a case of trying again before we go
Wife just said we should measure the tent as we have no footprint and I can get one made from tarp aline. We have the carpet though.

This seems to be a problem with Outwell tents. I don't know if they skimp on the material but I can never seem to get my flysheet to sit centrally on the poles hence the SIG is always raised off the ground slightly at one side. It is always the same side, the door side, so I don't think the slope of the pitch plays a great part in it, although it does seem to be better on a dead flat pitch. I have heard reports of other owners of the Outwell Carolina having similar problems so I know it's not just me. Your report suggests it is not just Carolinas either.

Every time I pitch I spend a long time trying to adjust this that and the other to get the flysheet central and although it is possible to adjust it slightly by messing with the tension straps etc; I can never totally resolve the problem. Unfortunately the tension straps are only on one side (the door side). If they were on both sides it might help. It annoys me no end but then sooner or later I have to give up and live with it. Although I know it is skewiff it looks ok and doesn't cause a problem...still annoying though

Weve have had 3 Outwell tents in the last few years and never had any problems with them not pitching correctly.
