Abbotsbury - Old School House cafe, if you have children a fab newly built wooden playground in a field, subtropical gardens, swannery, St.Catherines Chapel, Hardy's Monument (under scaffolding at the moment), walk down to Chesil beach. There is a nice railway walk between Portesham and Abbotsbury too.
Weymouth - Nothe Castle and park, the harbour (not the best for crabbing though), the shops, seafront. Best fish and chips IOHO is along the seafront on the corner of a road (sorry - can't remember which) but somewhere around the clock tower. It has an eat in area and take-away area. Just cross the road and eat them on the beach.
Upwey - Wishing Well and some nice strolls in the pretty extended village.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!

Depends what you are looking for and what age groups.
Lyme Regis is lovely, very busy this time of year so worth using the park and ride on the way in from Charmouth.

When going over to Tynham (an absolute must - look up the website) and Lulworth don't forget Durdle Door & Studland beach. The walk up to Old Harry is well worth the little effort if you get fed up with the beach.
When you plan to go down to Tynham phone the range officer first on 01929 404819 to make sure the road is open.
The coast road along to Bridport & Westbay is also worth the effort.

Bournemouth beach is lovely and long and there's usually lots going on in Bournemouth during the summer hols.
Pirate Golf (crazy golf) next to the Sea Life Centre in Weymouth.
Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.
It's carnival time in Swanage next week so there will be lots going on.
We love camping in Weymouth and I'm sure you will have lots of fun on your hols.

You are pretty central for the whole of the Dorset coast at Weymouth. Weymouth itself has lots of things to do and see although I think I prefer Swanage which is a little quieter. If you like walking you can use the south coast path with magnificent views. In fact from Swanage you can climb to the top of Ballard Down which then gives views over Old Harry Rocks and on one side you have Swanage Bay and on the other side, Studland Bay.
In the direction of Lyme Regis you have Golden Cap which is the highest cliff on the south coast and the views from the top of there are staggering.
If you don't want to drive there is a bus service which runs along the coast road all the way from Exeter to Poole. If you walk over the hill on a footpath from West Fleet into Bagwell Farm Campsite then out onto the main road you can catch the bus there, although in high season I believe it actually picks up from the Bagwell campsite reception area.

Sea life centre is now looking grubby and is massively over priced IMHO. Studland beaches are lovely, Compton Acres if you like gardens and they take Tesco vouchers too. Brownsea Island is lovely.
