Thanks - I'm waiting for my book to arrive but will look when it arrives! I don't mind if there is somewhere within walking distance - just don't fancy the idea of being stuck in a tent in the rain with two 6 year olds!!!
I have been looking for a club site that has a bar/club on site - we like the thought of being able to take the kids somewhere on an evening but I can't seem to find any?? xx
I have just searched for C&CC sites with a bar on their website and only came up with one - Windermere
The club sites dont really do clubs/bars. If you are lucky you might find a playpark or a shop selling basics on the odd club site, but its not really that kind of club.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

"I havent been a member for the last few years ...You dont save anything in the club sites unless you fit a particular category and to be honest its absolute hell at times trying to get booked in some of the more popular (and better) club sites...completely ignored the members only rule and basically let anyone camp for the same rate as members. ...hardly fair to those paying a premium for the privilege.
The other thing that really got on my nerves was of course the complete bias on certain club sites towards caravans. Not from other campers I might add, but from the club itself. The magazine ...far too caravan orientated to be classed as an all round camping mag. "
I totaly agree with the above remarks and that was why we didn't continue our membership...their caravan bias particularly irked me.
Wish I had never joined! Do you reckon they have a 14 day opt out??? I will look for certificated sites and see if I can find something- it's a pity they don't have a late availability option - trying to find somewhere for bank hol but it's tedious looking one by one!

I have made my comments about the C&CC here and in other threads so I won't labour the subject save to say that I joined in May and all I have managed so far is two nights on a rabbit infested site. In total, including the joining fee and losing a deposit through a bad weather cancellation, those two nights have cost me £79 (roughly). I can't find any sites at all (CS or club sites) that are suitable for my needs (which isn't a lot) and within a reasonable walking distance of places of interest in Southern England. However, my searches to find decent C&CC sites have pulled up some good and cheap non-club sites in various locations so I suppose you could say joining has helped in that respect
I have cancelled my direct debit and won't be joining again next year...just put it down to experience.

If you look through the Temporary Hoilday Sites ("Sites For Holidays") list in the magazine, you'll find many of them don't need to be booked in advance.
diddle - you can search online if you have your membership number
We didn't get anything out of our first year with the club apart from insurance for our folding camper but we've had 5 trips since April through them. I must admit it took a while to really understand what they're all about but once we took the plunge into meets we're really enjoying ourselves. My husband was very iffy about joining in but now he's always looking in the magazine for the next meet for us to go on!
