Having recently returning from my brilliant 4 nights at Ladram Bay, on taking down my tent, the Seagulls seemed to have had a bit of aiming practise, and succeeded on a fair few times!!!
We decided to wipe off the offending white stuff with our tent protecter spray.

Do you think this will be ok?

I'm pulling a face here. The best way to remove bird poo is to allow it to dry, brush it off gently with a soft brush and sponge off any residue with plain water. No detergents, no home cleaning products. A silicone based tent protector spray used as a cleaning solution? I can't help but think you might possibly have sealed thin smears of poo residue onto the canvas. I doubt it will leak tbh, but you might have marks. Are there still marks?
We did brush it off once it was dry, just kind of cleaned the area after we got it all off.
It is a spray protector we put on the tent each easter to help with water proofing, like you say at least we on't have leaks in those areas of the tent!!!

Can't quite see why you'd be putting waterproofer on a synthetic tent in the first place but as you say, if the treated areas don't leak you've got away with it.
Yep, I pretty much do as Valk says on our polyester tents.
Only difference is I sometimes put some wet paper towel on the poo if its rock solid to soften it up so it can be gently wiped off. Mind you, I mainly do that as it has always been my preferred method of removing poo from the car!lol
The proofer wont have hurt the tent, but as Val said, its not in any way necessary to use it to remove bird droppings. I dont use any fluids on my tents other than water as its the safest option everytime.
------------- (Quechua popup addict!)
Planned for next year, hopefully!
Summer Solstice wild camp.
Chilled in a Field, July.
Crantock, August. Fouth year with the fantastic Quechua Base Seconds 4.2!
..... and the odd night wild camping in my Argos 1 man tent...
I always put a tarp over my tents to protect them from bird droppings and tree sap. This also keeps the tent cooler in Summer and warmer in Winter. Well worth the extra time to rig one up. Cheers Phil.
------------- If there's no camping in heaven. I'm not going!
