So our first try in our new (2nd hand) Royal Biarritz 6. We managed to book 3 nights mid-week at short notice, I think everyone else had seen the weather forecast. Glorious sunshine when we arrived, very handy as the tent pitches inner first.
What's for Tea?
The view from our tent, very quiet for August. Look at the blue sky.
Night Night
At about 3am the rain started, and didn't stop for three days. Anyone who knows the site will see the unusual quantity of water going over the waterfall
Just for comparison, here's a couple of pictures showing day 1 and day 2, the amount of water that fell was amazing
Note the ledge half way up the left hand side of the picture on the 1st pic, and see where it is on the 2nd pic
And from the bridge:
How to warm a cold dog up
All in all it was a good hard test of the tent, and it passed with flying colours. This trip was to convince my wife how enjoyable camping can be, and the fact we've already booked a week at Tregarton Park in Cornwall in June next year tells you how good equipment can make even awful conditions enjoyable.
Lovely photos! I'm such a nosy cow I love seeing what other people have been up to!!!
It's amazing isn't it how quickly the water level can rise! We stayed in Eskdale last year and had a similar experience! Went for a walk and there was just a trickleof a stream, next morning it w
as a crashing waterfall!!
lovely, thanks for sharing!

Lovely pictures! Thanks for posting. When I'm here at the computer and not in a tent, it's the great photos posted by fellow UKCS members that bring it all back to me and give me a nice warm glow!
Wow the difference in the water is amazing, I bet it great to see though, it must have sounded fantastic as it thundered over the waterfall! Loving the photo of your dog all snuggly, says it all really! Thanks for sharing.
love the pics (especially the dog keeping nice and warm)
------------- Jewelsm - a fair weather camper
August 2013, 14, 15, 16 & 17-Trevornick for two and a half weeks of sea and surf (and ever optimistic -lots of sun). Some other weekends if I can persuade DH
We went here at end of July , first ime the kids have been able to paddle /swim in the river. Ds even jumping off rope swing into river by the waterfall , seems bizarre looking at the raging torrent on your pics
------------- June - Royal Umpire
July - Upwood Holiday Park
July - Knight Stainforth
August - last min depending on weather
Been to this site about three times. The last time it was spoilt by rowdy neighbours so we never went back. Its a shame because the site is well kept, the river is amazing. How did you find the other campers was it quiet. The pictures are fab and the weather makes it even better.
Forgot to add the water is always rough at this part of the river ! We too have seen the Kids using the rope to drop into the water a bit scary though.
