camping last week we had our tent and next pitch was my son, girlfriend and my other son aged 18.
about 3am I woke to the screaming panicky yell of someone really shouting "mum". thinking it was my eldest and knowing he would only yell like that id either his girlfriend or my son were seriously ill or hurt,I desperately tried to quickly unzip sleeping bags, pods and tent whilst fumbling for a light with my heart racing. all the while the yelling of "mum" was getting louder.
opened up the zip of their tent to find it was my 18yr
old having a nightmare. he had dreamt I had fallen under a lorry. oldest son and girlfriend got the fright of their lives when he started screaming .
next morning I apologised on his behalf to the neighbours who despite being scared and woken up were very understanding.

Asking to be quiet at half past five is not an unreasonable request, but looking at where you were staying it does not surprise me that you received the abuse you did. I stopped at Thornwick last year for 4 nights and in all that time I only had 11 hours sleep!! If it wasn't domestic arguements while 2am it was noisy 'half past fivers'. I reported the problems to the site security who weren't interested. I even wrote to the campsite when I returned home, and received no reply.
Whenever we (hubby & I) are camping I wake up, dont know the time but lay and listen to everyone for ages. Never really had any hassle from noise, just people getting up and enjoying themselves. After what seems like ages I look at my watch expecting it to be late (9ish for me is late), to find to my amusement that it's about 7.30! I get up, get showered and enjoy the morning time.
I do remember once laying in the tent listening to a young man trying but failing to put his tent up at about 11 p.m. Actually think the whole campsite heard a blow by blow account. Next morning he's disappeared.
Not a 'half past fiver' but a 'quarter to eighter' - I was woken this morning at 7.45 by someone from the next tent playing loud music on his car radio with the door open. It only lasted a couple of minutes but it was enough to wake me up properly, and probably woke everyone else on this section of the site as well. Grrrr!
