I vote for a tenacious tape repair job. I did a similar thing to my tent last summer, we had laid it on the ground to put the poles in, and must have dragged it, as when the tent was up, we noticed a long L-shaped tear in the side panel. My DH who does not like camping anyway immediately used it as an excuse to pack up and go home, but I was not to be beaten... I borrowed a fellow camper's real of grey gaffa tape and stuck a strip to the outside and same again to the inside. Instant repair. In fact, it lasted so well, I soon forgot all about the tear. Indeed when we went camping this year, I had clean forgot about the repair, and we had some horrendous downpours without any leaks getting in the tent whatsoever. So go for the repair.
