I'm down at withernsea sands (north yorks), its 5.20 and its lashing down. My parents are in the tent next door so we'll be having a few beers in my Monty 6 with awning later. Now the tent is up I'm starting early though.
My best bit of advice would be not to loose you temper with your other half when setting the tent up, even if you're right. Trying it 'HER' way which is wrong is quicker than them throwing a wobbler haha

Currently chucking it down in S Wales lol! Not as bad as yesterday's torrential storm though!! But the forecast for the rest of the weekend is good :-)

Friday was very wet, but putting the tent up in the rain was an experience, and we couldn't stop laughing about how wet we got! Top tip - remember to shut the tent doors otherwise you end up with puddles indside the tent but these are things you have to learn yourself from experience.
After putting up the tent, we retreated to the pub for some lunch and to dry off...upon our return we found the tent was trying to maskerade as a castle with its own moat!! There then followed a quick decamp and move up the field away from the rapidly expanding overflowing pond!!
To cut a long story short, we had a great time and the weather definitely improved and a great time was had by all. Thanks for all your tips!

Weather was fantastic at Looe, Cornwall. 10 days we were there and had a massive thunder storn one night and rain the next day for a few hours, all the other time we were there is was lovely.

We're at Jasmine Park - still here and it hasn't been too bad! Sunday was the worst day, it rained constantly from about 8am till about 3am Monday morning. For the first time ever we actually had water coming up through the groundsheet and carpet, the intensity of the rain was just so bad, plus we had a little slope to the side of the tent which didn't help. Ended up having to lift the tent and mop between the footprint and groundsheet then left it propped up to dry out underneath, while hanging the carpet over the windbreak to dry! Was really glad we got the new extension for our Corvus, we've been calling it our conservatory as it has windows on all sides - it was lovely sitting in there watching the rain outside. We have had a couple of really cold nights too, it seems to be getting colder at this time of year, but as it's our last one of the year we still enjoy it!

We got blown almost flat at Malliag in the highlands. Arrived Wednesday and had a lovely few days. By Friday we were warned it would get bad over weekend. Saturday was windy and we were warned a storm was coming, took the extension down before it got too bad but as it was nice we decided to stick it out. Big mistake. By midnight it was really windy, come 3am the wind had shifted and was hitting the back corner of our tent, it was folding in over us almost flat on that side. Actually amazed how well it stood up. The delta peg in that corner kept coming out of the sand, rest held on though and I had double pegged that side of the tent. 3.30am heard a crack, peg gave again and tent went very flat on that side. We departed to the car pausing only to put down the chairs and tables so as not to damage the tent. Me and little one stayed in car, hubby went back and slept in tent.
It didnt look good come Sunday morning, tent was still in place but virtually flattened on one side. Still very windy and now raining so tent had leaked in where zip was lay on floor. Packed up and headed home. Only damage was one pole which had split lengthways. Given that we had 20-30mph gusts of wind I was impressed.
Just glad it happened on the last night of our week long holiday.

We had a fab time at Thorpe Farm, near Scotch Corner over the b/h weekend. We got absolutely drawked on Friday putting the tent up but we have never laughed so much! I put the tent up alone with a little help from my parents who have never pitched a tent in their life, having put a tent up only once before myself, and that was in a warm, calm and very dry Spain!! I cant ever remember being so wet in my life! The kids sat happily in the car laughing at us.
Saturday was lovely and sunny, there was a stiff breeze and it was chilly but the kids were well wrapped up and really enjoyed themselves playing with all the other kids in their wellies and winter coats! Hubby arrived after a hard day at work around 6pm and brought gale force winds with him!! I love the sound of wind and rain in a tent and the children slept through it all so a good night was had by all.
Sunday morning brought more sunshine but unfortunately the wind remained. Lots of campers were already packed up, and many more were in the process with quite a few tents looking worse for wear. It was quite sad, we felt sorry for all the people who had to cut short what may have been their last outing of the year.
We had to return home on the Sunday and had a bit of fun putting the tent away in the wind but we managed it ok.
As I said, we had a lovely weekend but I saw the negative side of camping in England. It hasnt put us off, infact we enjoyed it so much we are thinking of camping locally for October half term. I think we might be coming down with OCD - Obsessive Camping Disorder.

We've spent the last 10 days at Jasmine Park. The rain didn't spoil it at all. We were in the non elec field and proved the old adage right that there is no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing, We forgot to take our wellies but once we had a family outing to buy new ones a great time was had by all. So if you saw a crazy lady dancing in the puddles in her purple wellies, that was me!
