Hi Everyone i'm hoping to get some advise on water proofing our tent,i was just wondering which product is the best and an easy way to use.
We have a Kalahari 10 so it's a big tent to water proof, i've seen paint on and rub in water proofing and also a aerosol spray water proofing, just wondering if anyone has used these and if their any good?
Why do you feel it needs waterproofed? Synthetic tents like your Kalahari practically never need this done...only if it's been damaged by improper cleaning or you want to squeeze a last season out of it when it starts to delaminate due to UV exposure. Otherwise it doesn't need waterproofed. Only cotton canvas tents need proofed....and even then, a whole lot less often than you might imagine, if at all.
Ok thanks, we don't have any leaks I just didn't know if we need to do it thanks for all your replies, just another quicky how long if looked after would a tent like the kalahari last, it's had plenty of rain and sunny on it over the last three seasons we've used it and it has always been put away dry.
With the emphasis on "rumour". There are people on this site who would argue that and once again - denier is only one of the factors in the life of a tent material. The denier is from the raw material before the PU coating (waterproofing) is applied too.
