Just wondered after the last topic I put on about worse camping experiences what were peoples best camping experiences and what made them so good?

We have just returned from probably our best camping trip to date.  From check-in to reluctantly leaving it was fab.  The site was brill and our pitch was lovely surrounded by hedges with a lovely pub on site just a very shortly walk from us and an open air pool.  Lovely clean tidy site and nothing too much trouble.  Kids absolutely enjoyed their stay too.  The weather although could have been warmer was good.  All in all a brilliant stay at a fab park with all leaving after they had enjoyed their stay.

For me its a balance, last year we went to Cornwall which was probably my most favorite site ever! Weather was 'dodgy' but didn't bother us. This year the site wasn't my favorite, but people were great, weather was amazing, in all was my most enjoyed camping holiday.
I would definitely go back to site in Cornwall, would and have recommend it, friends there now! But even though New Forest this year was a superb holiday I wouldn't go back to site.

The best would have to be some of my recent trips to Cornwall both for the people I went with and the people I now count as friends that we have met on the site.

The weather and amenities all count for nothing in comparison.

For me it would probably be when we went to the Isle of Man this year for Southern 100 racing, we were only supposed to be there for about 7 days but weather was awful here so we changed ferry tickets for £10 and stayed for another 6 days. Had time to explore the Island, lovley walks, beautiful weather (yes it really was the Isle of Man!) and fantastic campsite. So all in all everything was superb. Although we go to the races TT etc never really explored like we did.

My favourite was when we went to Brighouse, older children left at home and just the two younger ones to contend with. DH and I were poorly as well and really struggled, but a gorgeous beach, nice weather, walks in beautiful villages/towns, watching kids crabbing, fish and chips on the harbour and a nice site, clean site and friendly staff all made it our perfect holiday.

We go as part of a group and its company/safety in numbers having our own field that does it for us. Where we have went last few years the staff are ace too, cafe excellent, great local take-aways that will bring to site too and within easy reach of a lot of things round about.

Our best was when we went to St Ives. We normally book 10 nights, starting from a Monday till the week following Thursday. This then gives us the option to stay longer so we can put the tent down dry or if the weather is good.

We ended up staying 16 nights because of the glorious sunshine, not a cloud in the sky. On one day a couple of ladies came round selling tickets for a plastic duck race on the river next to the site. We bought 2 for the kids. Lo and behold my youngests duck came first, out of 500, and he won £75. He was so chuffed. He still talks about it now some 7 years later.

All the ones I went on as a child, because I can only remember the good bits.

Can't remember where we went, or most of the things we did, just remember what a brill time we had.
One memory that sticks was waking up with a horse pushing it's head through the tent door, think it was in New Forest.
