A 65L rucksack is enormous! That's what my 14 year old was carrying on his DofE this year and they had a 20 mile hike each day, carrying tents, cooking equipment, food, water, clothes, sleeping bags and mats and everything else. You just need sleeping bag and mat, clothes, personal toiletries and some emergency food, yup? You could shove all that in a large day sack and dangle your mat off the back.
You can get tick removers at pet shops. Take Skin so Soft + another insect repellant, a small personal first aid kit, a hat to protect against sun and when it gets cold, minimal toiletries (arrange to share where possible), small towel, lots of socks and clean undies fir every day, one or at most two sets of spare clothes and I would suggest a very light pair of camping flip flops to wear around the campsite so you can air your feet out and not have to wear boots all the time. A good sleeping bag is essential...Tesco does a great Ultralight one at 50% off atm...and a camp pillow is a light but worthwhile luxury. Also take a plastic bag for wet and dirty clothes.
