Simple little thing for me would be zipped pole sleeves because my icarus ones are tight as to get through.Feel free to belittle and ridicule me.

Dave not at all ive actually considered sliding my fibreglass poles into lengths of hose pipe to make them easier to thread. Not the normal rubber hose but the flat stuff that you get on cassette reels its light weight but im not sure if it would work.

Im sure some brainiac well let me know.

I don't understand why you cant get a 'mini freezer' to plug into the ehu

A small metal box about 12 inch by 6 inch x 4 inch that you slide in a ice pack and it freezes it. Could also use it to make ice cubes

Would then be able to keep the icey tek going for weeks and always have ice

Seems to be loads of camping fridges but no freezer type items

Just because you have electric it doesnt mean you are using an electrical fridge

hi ive seen small camping freezers daisydog , my idea i which i think would be good would be your tent roof is covered in water proof light weight solar panelled material , so you could plug all your ehu stuff in to some sort of plug inside the tent , giving enough power

I wish someone would come up with an alternative to zips! 4 zips to get out to the loo, 4 to get back in again, and that's if you are lucky enough not to get one of them snagged on the fabric at some point (which is the major drawback of zips IMO).

So, how about tents with overlapping, elasticated doorways, so you can silently pull them apart to exit/enter, and then they spring closed behind you (to stop rain/cold getting in) - but they can be loosened to stay open during the day?

I would like a portable mangle to squish all the air out of the tent so I can get it back its bag in less time than it takes to get the thing down. Or a robot to do it for me.

I find a 10 year old boy rolling all over the folded tent removes most of the air. A 6 year old is best for air beds and a 3 year old for SIMs. All quite amusing but effective.

Well I suppose I will have to let the cat out of the bag

Next years tent design  will be this one.

After consultation with campers regarding, pitching to close, noisy neighbours. Level of waterproofing, costs of campsites.

Site owners worried about non breathable groundsheets, campfires and having to provide EHU

I give you the inflatable floating tent

Is it acceptable to borrow other people's for the purpose?

The only time I miss having children is when I need the tent and SIMs packed up!

Not a brainiac, but couldn't you use those silicone wipes that make curtain rails glide more smoothly?

Maybe it's just me but I think we'll go back to a more sustainable way of camping. Canvas made from sustainably grown cotton would be warmer than poly, for example. And instead of little burnt patches all over the sites where they allow fires, we'l have one big firepit to share with our neighbours. Does 5 tents to a pit sound about right? People could club together to maintain the fire (no shortage of alpha males, I'm sure! And some alpha females too. Not to mention middle-sized kids.)

I'm planning to continue camping into my 60's and 70's so I'll be wanting a tent without all the trip hazards we seem to have these days. Plus something to sleep on that I can get up off in the morning!

Liz
