Well done on getting a trailer, if you are going to France next year, look out for the NorfolkLine promo code TEF04 becoming active again, whilst the NEC show is on Next month.

You may already know, that if your cars MTLP is below 3500kg, then you will be legal to tow at upto 81mph on the French Autoroutes, and no extra toll charge for the trailer, happy days.

Car+Trailer return Dover-Dunkerque crossing for £58, that price has been about the same for the last 3 years, so with a bit of luck, it should still be the same for 2012.

                    Last year, we came back third week of July, and the ferry ran into a force 8 gale, the onboard sick bags were being put to good use, and the sea was so choppy, that the ferry had to drop anchor, just outside Dover port, untill it was safe to dock, we bobbed around in the see for an hour going nowhere.

Funnny thing is I quite enjoyed the experience, but can't say the same for Mrs Francais though lol.

As for doing 81mph whilst towing a trailer, just check your trailer tyre's are rated accordingly, some 8" tyres are only rated to 60mph.

When we were on the ferry going to France, you couldn't go out on deck, the kids play areas were closed, they advised you not to walk about and if you did you had to hold on to the handrails...I went to get hubby a cuppa and couldn't walk back to him without spilling it all over myself it was that bad

Never. Ever. Again!!!  Fortunately we'd already booked the tunnel to come home, even if we hadn't there was no way I was getting back on that ferry!!

                     I think I must have developed my sea legs as a child, my parents would take me on camping holiday's to the South of France, back in the 1960's, and we always used the Newhaven-Dieppe crossing, that took 8 hours back then, not like the 4 hours it takes today.

Also back then, the car was loaded on by crane, no Ro-Ro in those days, and as for the ship, no stabalisers, so unless the channel was like a mill pond, you were in for a rough crossing lol.
