Well took advantage of the fact that I was off work this Saturday and Sunday plus good weather and fit in one last trip. Sadly it will probably the last of the year.
I had recently purchased a "faulty" Hi Gear Mojave 5 from ebay and couldn't wait until next year to test it out. Well it didn't leak and the only thing I could find wrong with it was a loop missing to hook the inner tent to, on the floor. Wasn't noticeable when the airbeds were in there. We went to Betws y Coed and the weather was beautiful in the day but a bit nippy in the evening. Went to bed at 9pm with far too many layers on (sleeping bag, duvet, extra sleeping bag on top) and woke up in the early hours too hot!! Then went back to sleep until 9am!! Can't believe how lucky we were in the middle of October. Just hope the winter goes quickly so we can go camping again.

------------- Wish I could go camping more and not have to work for a living!!!
No need to quit camping just cos it's getting a bit cool. Wait for a promising weekend, wrap up warm and take off to your favourite site. Wonderful early morning walks to be had and the sites are nice and quiet. And with a bit of luck there'll be a nice warm pub just down the road. Gotta be a better way of spending a weekend than sitting home watching daytime TV
I agree...if you can possibly get away it has to be better than hibernating at home. You won't be on your own. I have never found any campsite deserted yet.
Me and a mate of mine made a last minute decision in the pub on Friday to load the car and drive out to the Lakes on Saturday morning. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and the new Quechua XXL IV survived the rain so really pleased we went.
It is likely to be the last trip this year. I am planning on spending the next few months getting more prepared with the gear so we're ready to go nice and early next year!

We go on Wednesday for 4 nights for Haloween then sadly that's it for us until next year. Not through lack of will but a lack of workable opportunity with us both working in retail and having no holiday left.
Still, gives us plenty of opportunity to plan our 2011 trips.

would love to spend another night under canvas but i am very aware of the cold northern winds and the snow capped mountains at aviemore. Do not have another weekend off til mid -Nov, so will eagerly await the much needed spring and plan the first camp of next season cant wait!! Hoping to camp french style in the Summer too!
2011 was the first year of camping with my son, he has loved it even when the weather was not on our side, thank god for fleeces, waterproofs, playparks and inside soft play!!
And for me loved the tranquility just nice to get away from the mayhem of homelife!!
