We all wish we could spend a little (or lot) more on our camping gear and get tent envy every now and then but I'm really pleased with my set up for our last camp.

items bought new especially for camping:

mycooltent £64, EHU £45, windbreak with canopy £18.99, folding table & chairs £18, 4 slice toaster £7.99, tent carpet £19.99, stripey rug £20, blow up sofa bed £14.50, double airbed £7.50, various sleeping bags approx £5 each, lamp £6 & 3 pairs of canvas curtains to make inner tent £18 total

items bought secondhand especially for camping:

'stove' electric heater £20 (had been unused as heater as used only as an ornament)  & kettle 30p (saves denting my S/S one)

items bought new for home & camping use:

2x red bed spreads £15 each & solar powered lights £15 which will get used for Christmas too.

All other items brought from home, the oldest being the folding wooden table beside the sofabed which I'd forgotten I even had until I put my glamping hat on and had to hunt it out

We arrived on thursday while there was a bit of drizzle but nothing to worry about and that night there was some rain which after reading a few stories about this tent I was a little worried. Although it was obvious all the window stitching was wetter than the rest of the tent it remained dry inside so this will be sealed when it goes up in the garden for pre camping inspection next year as its already been pitched to dry but I haven't been too well so decided against it.

The inner tent colour isn't going to be to everyones liking especially as its so dark but I must say it was a godsend as we had unknowingly pitched under a street light  without the inner tent on it was really bright but as I'd made it to go round the whole interior of the tent we just hooked up the rest of the inner tent and we all had a good nights sleep.

As we were there only a couple of days I didn't take the camping kitchen and next time I'll set the windbreak up the other way (so canopy slope is with entrance slope IYSWIM) and probably attach a tarp to extend the canopy as even when tight there wasn't much sheltered standing room for an adult.

4m is ok for us as a weekend tent but we'll stick with the Atlantis 5 & porch for the longer summer breaks unless we can get the money together for a 5m zig

hmmm ...... now you have given me tent interior envy  especially the stove!!  I have a woodburning stove at home and looks nearly identical to your electric version.  Oh how I would love my woodburning stove in my tent.  Guess I will just have to be content with my £4.00 car booty fan heater!!

Our full outfit has been down to bargain hunting!!

Outwell Nevada M Tent - Ebay, was a return from Go Outdoors, had a small fault which turned out to be a small repairable tear in the groundsheet.  Cost less than £100.

Outwell Richmond Kitchen - Ex display model from yeomans - yep the canvas is faded - but fully functional - £15.00.  2 x folding chairs - again an outwell one £5.00 from yeomans and one from the car boot £4.00.  Fan Heater - car boot £4.00  Electric 2 ring stove - in a shop sale £20.00  Tent Carpet - Ebay - Its a Gelert, not too bad a fit and does the job £15.00  Melamine plates, bowls, cups, glasses .... all from an end of season sale £5.00.  Campingaz coolbox from Sports Direct factory outlet £11.

Purchases not from sales/second hand was the EHU and Aerobed, although we did shop around for the best price deals.

I take a lamp from home for lighting, an old duvet I use just for camping ... until I can find a really warm sleeping bag at a reasonable price.  I use cutlery from home and a travel kettle we have had for years.

When its all set up, its a right little home from home!!  If I wasnt on a budget then perhaps I would have considered splashing out on a matching outwell carpet for the tent ... but just couldnt justify it at this time.

Well done you just goes to show that it dosen't matter what it costs if it works use it.How many people have to have new this, new that and the latest must have, when you can get away with decent, second hand,or like us a bit of home made kit to get you by.If it's comfy and it suits what does it matter when there are bargains out there to be had. Looks a lovely set up that you've got there to me.

Yes I agree!  Great setup, and I do like the colours - very warm and cosy!

If I saw your tent on a site, and you showed me round the interior, I'd be amazed that you did it on a budget!  GO YOU!
