Just back from sunny Glen Coe! it was touch and go whether the snow was going to halt me in my tracks!

This was the scene at Tyndrum this morning. This is the junction of the main roads - north to Fort William or west to Oban.



The temperature was not as low as I had hoped it would be and as a result my sleeping bag was quite damp on the outside after 2 nights. It still looks cold though!



It is amazing how a simple tarp can hold in the heat of the fire mind you. At about -3C I could stand under it with just my t-shirt!


I managed a few nice shots of the snow - these are around Fort William at Neptunes staircase, a series of locks on the Caledonian canal and near the Black Mount on Rannoch moor....











The fire was a necessity! The cold and damp even affected the wood and it was hard to keep a smoke free fire going!




I'm now looking forward to next month and the year ahead!

I'm trying to work this one out. Do you mean that if it had been colder, the bag wouldn't have been damp? Would it have been ice instead?

Brrr . . .  Stunning scenery, but I bet you were the only one at the campsite. Do they keep it open just for you?

Many thanks for all your kind comments, Sarah it has to do with the dew point and the amount of water in the air.  The colder it is, the dryer it normally is, so its best about -10C

Great pictures! And they finally gave me that Christmas feeling - no snow expected here in Denmark for the Christmas days, but up to 10 degrees celsius!

I think there was no wind at all since you could stand under the tarp with just a t-shirt?

Glad you resurrected this thread as I had missed it - probably something to do with Christmas preperations!!

Great photos as always and it all looks so seasonal - not like those of Januarys trip!
