I enjoy camping, and do not see why I should stop just because the days are shorter and temperatures lower, windier, wetter etc...
I camped over the Christmas weekend just gone, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. And the dog enjoyed it too.
I did New Year weekend in 2009 along with fellow campers from the South West, and enjoyed that too.
Just need to adjust the gears and take certain precautions, that's all, IMHO.
