I know mildew is covered loads on here and I've gone through all of the threads but they're all to do with mildew on the tents and bedroom inners....my problem is that I have the little black crosses on the groundsheet of the bedroom pod...do I treat this the same way as I would if it was on the tent itself?

The tent has been taken down today after being up since Wednesday and the bedroom pod is now over the line blowing about merrily in the sunshine...the forecast isn't too bad for the next couple of days so ideally I'd like to do whatever needs to be done asap.

A 10: 1 ratio of water to Milton sterilising fluid will kill the mould so it won't re-grow. This is the advice from several tent manufacturers. It will probably not get rid completely of any stain though. As you'll probably have beds or carpet/rugs over the inner groundsheet I wouldn't have thought a slight stain would matter.

Must admit I have often wondered whether Milton surface wipes over a groundsheet would do the same job. We have used them to clean up a nasty spill on the groundsheet of our tent before with no detrimental effect.

Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!

MILTON.....They use this to clean babies milk bottles so it cannot be so bad unlike bleach. We got some black crosses on the bed pod only a little. Took it down but only put it in the washer. I think it was the after effect as it was done before we got . Not bad.

But I always wanted to know the ratio as has been spoken of before, so thanks for being thorough in your info back.As it is one for my little black book I keep of good info.

Thank you so much.....I know that milton has been used on tents but I've never had the dreaded black crosses on a groundsheet before.....have to be very careful as youngest child has a lung condition so we're extra careful to fully dry out/ventilate all of our kit.

Will give the milton a go....and to ask a really daft question ..should I do both the inside and outside of the groundsheet??

I agree, as it would probably put your mind at rest that you have done the job properly.
