We use These wax ear plugs from Boots.

They have strands of cotton wool running through them length wise and although quite large for sleeping on, if you use them one per night and half them length wise, using one half per ear, then they are comfortable to lie on.

However, a word of warning. We only use ear plugs very occasionally and only if we cannot get to sleep by any other means. I have to feel very secure with my surroundings and be aware that everything is as safe as can be with the people and equipment around me before I shut myself off from the general background hum of the campsite.

If something does go wrong with ours or another unit close by, I like to know that I will hear the kerfuffle instantly and be awake quickly enough to be able to do whatever I can for our own safety.

I recomend Snore Calm ones from the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association as I need them to block out my husband! normaly priced about £9.99 for 30 pairs and can be reused. If you buy more they reduce the price. I find that even with use every night for months i don't get sore ears which i have done with other makes. also i can hear enough outside noise for comfort but not the stuff that would keep me awake.

I have been using Quies for about a couple of decades. These used to be made by Martindales who made the ones the road workers used to wear when drilling and breaking the concrete up. Called Quebies then or QB. They have 14 inside they are covered with a little bit of cotton wool, you peel it off, put two into your palm to warm up, then mould into a cone shape to fit your ears. Mine last between 1 - 2 weeks at a time so can go as long as 7 - 14 weeks at time. They cost about £3 to £3.50 depending what chemist you get them from.

So at say,( 10 weeks they cost me 35p for a good nights sleep for one week). 

When  that used to take me out of the bedroom and sleep separately for Bob. But not anymore since then it allows me to kill most of his snoring sound,yet still hear the phone if needs be or any yell for help etc.

Worth 35p per week and as I have inner ear excema got as a child, These have not affected it or annoyed it while others have either by getting too hot for my ears or being too hard for them and irritating the inside of the ear channel.
