Good day,

The wife brought in some packets advertised on lookwhatwefound.com These were being sold for about £2 per packet. Booths in Chorley are selling them for 99 pence at the moment. All sorts from meatballs, venison, curry etc. I have been taking them to work as well. The shelf life on the packet is until Jan 2013. Worth getting some in now.You can microwave or boil in the bag, or if desperate eat cold. These are the first foods out of a packet I have actually enjoyed. Can anyone recommend any others??

Cheers4now,

Morning Dave1950!

I'm not too far from Chorley, I'm in Bolton........they look great for backpacking!! At 99p too, they look much nicer than the Wayfarer type packets aimed specifically at backpackers!! Home produce too! I'm very tempted to go and get a shedload in for this years adventures!!!

Thanks for posting!

Wendy :o)

I had a look at there website a few days ago, the meals look good and generally cheaper that the likes of Wayfarer etc. Will need to get a few to try as will need something like that for June this year.

Darn, shame its a bit of a hike to get over there from Liverpool.

When backpacking I usually eat rice (Uncle Bens 2 minute mircrowave packets are good since they can be done on even a small burner in less than 10 mins) or soup of some sort. I generally buy stuff whilst out walking to limit the amount of weight I have to carry at the start of the walk.

The Striped Box company do some good meals.I cant comment on the prices of their meals as I won 3 boxes, each with ten meals inside in a competition...
But as I remember they were very tasty..with long shelf lives, and included items such as Lamb Shank,Chicken and Beef, and some Pork Belly...

Microwave or boil in the bag...I used two or three on one camping trip and found them easy to use, the rest were eaten at home when I needed something quick and tasty after a 12hr shift at work etc...

Jelboy.

Hi guys. Army ration packs are great they have 24 hours of food or you can go for the day packs which are half the price. They are in a small box no bigger than small box tissues(approx) easy to carry and can be eaten hot or cold, the menu are great. You get various hot/cold drinks, breakfast, lunch and dinner also with sweets, snacks, biscuits, tissues and wind proof matches, water purification tablets, salts, pepper even Tabasco sauce in some, we love having these as they are so easy to carry and use, some pricey than others but eBay was the best we found, normal 24 hour packs £19 and day packs £9.Each 24 hour pack can easily last us longer, between myself and my wife having one each can get 3 days out of them.
