Last year I ordered some cobblestones from the Cobb website and I don't know if it was just a dodgy box but they were practically impossible to light!! Hubby prefers the cobblestones to heat beads so am on the hunt for this years supply. Did anyone else have issues with their cobblestones last year and if not where did you get them? I know it's kind of luck of the draw but I'm trying to narrow my odds lol lol
Yep we have used those too. The cobb is hubbys toy though and he does prefer the cobblestones...when they work properly lol. Its only this last box we've had a problem with. They have been great before that.
Yes they changed something. I believe it was for chemical/health reasons. I now light mine, in the cage, over a gas stove! You can try a lighter but it takes a long time. ! suspect the best bet might be one of those cooking blowtorches, or a little bit of fire-lighter.
I bought mine direct from COBB when I bought the oven last summer. Absolutely no problem lighting them but, for all their convenience, was disappointed with the heat they gave off.
I bought some last summer and they were a nightmare to light - but I just use a tiny bit of firelighter underneath it and let it burn off and they light easily.

We went through so much lighter gel one day trying to get it to light when we were kayaking with friends. Two hours later we gratefully received a couple of disposable bbq's from some other day trippers....OH saw the funny side eventually lol
A few years ago I bought a big box of solid fuel that looks almost identical to Cobblestones. Unfortunately there was no company name or contact details so I have not been able to buy any more!
It is my understanding that the "genuine article" Cobblestones have had their formulation changed and are not as easy to light as they used to be........

Those who know don't talk.
I had my first Cobb cooking session today with Cobblestones. I have to say they were not anywhere as easy to light as seen in various online videos, in the end I used a kitchen match (long) and held the match under the cobblestone, so the flame tip played on the cobblestone, and eventually the ignition chemicals kicked in.
We had a box of Cobblestones that were a b*gger to light, last year, but just thought we'd got a dodgy batch. Now am wondering what they're going to be like this year.
They are so much cleaner and faster to heat up than heat beads, so I hope they're going to light okay.
