I'm going to throw my vote in for the 'insulate under your air bed' advice

We have two big knotted rugs that form a carpet in the bedroom and keep us snug

Lovely to walk on, too

That and make sure you've got a light that you can easily get to in the night

Oh yeah, and put warmer/bed time clothing on before you get cold

Never go on any site without a Wee bucket, you WILL need it at some point during the night, especially after socializing earlier in the evening...

Never socialize on any site without having a bottle of Irn Bru(pop) to hand for the morning after???

I've noticed that I posted this on two forums (sorry).

Thanks for all the replies. Some gems, and some chuckles. Insulate the airbeds is one I'll take away.

First 'outing' on Friday. Grateful for the "don't eat yellow snow" tip..... Might come in handy.....

If you're pitched on a slope, make sure your feet are pointing downhill when you're sleeping.

That's a bit like one my Dad taught me:- "What's under the bed stops you from being cold and what's on the bed keeps you warm."

A friend taught me:- Take a can of rice pudding with you, it can be eaten any time of the day and you can eat it cold if your cooker has died.....

Bit of a strange one 'the more you take the less you go'...

So if i took less would probably have to give up work to fit the trips in

I take the kitchen sink and haven't been home for one weekend in the last month

Get a tent with a Hydrostatic Head rating of more than 2000! I'd been camping in leaky old tents for 30 years, and when we came to buy our new one I asked for advice from a neighbour who camps regularly. She told me about the HH rates and I got my Aztec with a HH of 4000 and it doesn't leak! Result!

Another one:- Pack the tent in the car last and it will be the first thing out when you arrive on site, ready to pitch up.

The boot on one of the cars I had years ago was an awkward shape, combined with the tent I had at the time I had to pack it first and it was a right PITA unpacking the whole car to get the tent out, especially if it was threatening to, or even worse, actually raining.......

Needless to say that car / tent combination did not last long!
