Well after being so organised for this seasons camping trips,i managed to save the money we needed for each trip, and our festival tickets ect...
My other half car broke down yesterday and turned out its the engine(knackered) going to cost around £1,800 for new engine and fitting.Cant believe it,but has to get fixed as needed to travel to work and even more important my camping trips, also just put new tow bar on it.
So looks like we may have to live on beans on toast for a while and our camping meals wont be steak thats for sure, but at least we have everything we need to go camping still got £40 on the asda card (thats about 8 bottles wine) Got to look on the bright side.could be worse
That's rubbish, it's surprising though how little you can spend when you have too. Just being away in the tent is a bonus and beans taste better at camping!!
We're in the same boat. The winter storms and a rotting post have brought forward the need to replace the front boundary fence and gate. Thinking longer term we are going for a wall and gate this time, so bang goes our savings and holiday budget for the year! So a couple of nights at easter and free camping at a vehicle rally in the summer is all we dare plan at the moment...
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
In a similar situation here too, my car was victim to a hit & run whilst parked last week and I'm waiting on CCTV for any info but in the mean time I have to put it through my insurance and it's looking very likely it's a write off . I spent two years looking for a car to my spec on my budget and had it less than a year, the only saving grace is I can buy it back but will need to be repaired, VIC checked & MOTed again before I can use it and we need it for easter.
Just dont want to be camping downwind of you all!!!!! At least you've got all the essentials and you wont be needing too much kitchen equipment. Nice and simple thats how I like my camping!

Best keep off the baked beans
Hi "sunny day camper" had to plans of a new polycotton on hold, our car is rather ill too, ( must have went to same garage ) so bought a second hand tent in meantime..
So sorry to hear about the car and it's such a shame you cannot do the trips you had planned. Hope you get the car sorted and can start saving again. Camping can be very cheap if you want it to be!!

Sunny Day Camper - don't despair - you may well have the best camps ever with the reduced budget, camping is great fun when its pared back! I'm praying my little Ka will last this summer and the £300 I had saved towards my summer's trips went last Mon on car repairs too .
Don't care, I've got a car still and a tent - see you in the beans aisle!
Thanks for all the reply's
Car is getting sorted this week(i hope).so at least we can still get away.have to maybe change a couple of sites that were quite expensive to more basic sites, but we will camp anywhere as long as the kids can run about and be safe, don't even need EHU in the warmer months so can maybe even splash out on beans with sausages.lol
Roll on first camp (easter weekend)
