Hi, I'm going camping with my dog for the first time.
I've found a site with the YHA that will have us, since im a member and it will save me taking cooking equipment (I'm going on the train, so space/weight are premium).

I was wondering if there is anything special I need to consider Re the dog?
TIA

Keeping him on a lead at all times.

Making sure he can't escape.

Make sure you clean up after him.

don't forget the dog food!

It's great camping with dogs, we've got 2 and they both love camping, Bob our Labrador especially, he only has to see me loading the car up and starts bouncing around.

Oh and they make a great alternative to a hot water bottle!

Thanks Kate W,
Didn't think of the dog water bottle being useful, it's a pain at home when she jumps on the bed.
I doubt she'd let me forget anything of hers, mine on the other hand...

Part of my camping list on an Excel Spreadsheet it the doggie list, and it consists of Dog Crate, if you use one, lead, dog bowls, enough food, poo bags, microfibre towel for drying off a wet dog especially if it's near bedtime, you don't want to sleep near a wet dog!

One thing that I would hate to be without is my dog tether - worth getting one so you can fasten it into the ground and then you have somewhere to fasten the dog too,  Don't forget to pack your tether and lead near the top so you can get to them easily when you get to site!!!  We also find a small cheap groundsheet really handy as our dog doesn't like lying on the wet grass first thing in the morning.

Kate.
