40mph gusts of winds would put me off, thats enough to damage even the best quality tent. You will see some great photos on here of people with tents in the snow but this sort of camping isnt for everyone, you need the right sort of gear and a very determined attitude. I am all for getting out there but are you really going to enjoy it? Its a tough decision especially when you have booked and you really want to go.
We cancelled our booking for easter as our youngest has got a cold and we had booked a very exposed site in the middle of nowhere. I was disappointed but I am glad now we stayed at home. We may go next weekend but are waiting until Tuesday to make a decision.
Good luck whatever you decide - and theres nothing wrong with waiting a few weeks.
