We have just return from a long Easter weekend camping up in Banbury . Those of you who went away wont need to be told how cold (and wet) it was!
Our tent (Kalahari 10) had a porch which was the designated muddy area where we took our boots and shoes etc off.
What made this much more useable was the purchase of mat from the 99p shop - although I'm not a believer in buying things with the intention of throwing them away this was caked in mud after 3 days and was only fit for the bin. How much did it cost? I'll leave that to you to work it out!
We will certainly be buying one for our next trip!
I was in the £ shop last week with my daughter and a man said to his wife, 'How much do you think this bin is?' I wasn't the only one who was trying not to laugh

Lol! I originally saw one of these in the pound shop but decided to shop around to see if I could get it cheaper!
Agree with you berkshirebugsy, have splashed out and bought 2 groundsheets from £ shop for our porch, if too muddy can go straight in the bin. scrubed our carpet for ages last year not doing that again!!!!
------------- SUNNY DAYS,RAINY DAYS THEY ARE ALL CAMPING DAYS
Our Vango Columbia has an excellent side porch with separate groundsheet, so easy to hose off back home. We also take the dirt trapper mats from home (for all the tents), which get hosed and then go into the washing machine. They actually improve with washing. If its too bad, we sometimes use a couple of cheap (couple of quid) microfibre towels as first point of contact. Just alternate them, wash, dry and reuse throughout the stay.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
I'm a big believer in microfibre cloths and towels (the cheap towels, not the good ones!!)
We always take them camping with us, good for spills, mopping up condensation, drying the footprint before packing etc. Just rinse and dry as we go along, and bung them all in the washing machine when we get home!!
Berkshirebugsy,we have bought gear while away in £shops with the idea it will do what we need it to do for this trip, especially in wet weather.Ten at the end of the trip when it's not been too dirty,it's gone into a plastic bag after being cleaned on site, taken out and cleaned properly at home.Low and behold we've sometimes got 2 or 3 trips out of stuff for a pound.I'm not a cheapskate, just careful.lol.
------------- If the moon reflects the suns light, why does it not reflect the suns heat?
