Riverside Cononley been abysmal today, hail piled round bottom of tent but last two days have been fine, didn't look at weather forecast. Decide to come last week and that was that. PamJ
I cant remember ever cancelling a trip because of the weather..Though most of my trips are later in the year..
I'm off to Glencoe at the end of this month..And as I don't have transport...I've hired a small van(All paid for) to get me and my stuff up there....So I shall be going what ever the weather decides to do..I invited a work mate along on this trip..Serious hill walker...and thought he could use my tent as a base, give him more time on the hill..and save him driving home after his walk...Told me yesterday if its snowing up there he ain't going...I'm ok with that as it was a pretty loose arrangement...And we don't need to prebook the site..I'll be there anyway....

Sorry to hear about the car... Pheasants are bloomin crazy things!
Braved the conditions last weekend in Staxton near Scarborough till wednesday.
Arrived on Friday to rain and struggled to get the tent up, Very windy for mosst of the holiday through the nights and on Tuesday we were about to admit defeat due to the winds but then realised we would probably be in a worse situation trying to take the tent down in 40-50 mph gusts ( very large tent) so hung out and survived. Rained again when due to take the tent down.
Did have some nice weather in between though mainly in the afternoons
I guess we were lucky one tent arrived , lasted a day and then wind snapped one of their poles and off to home it was for them.
Well we went, weather was tolerable. Lots of rain and cold at night but had EHU so had little fan heater on a lot of the time. Had a fire pit at night which was lovely. My little boy loved it, he made loads of new friends and we hardly saw him. He asked when we're going again so it was worth it just for him really.
This was only our second camping trip but think well wait til it's a bit warmer for our next one
