I am looking at getting my almost 2 year old a proper sleeping bag this year. Last year we only went away once in August, and she slept in a travel cot with a vest, thick socks, sleepsuit and then a fleece sleepsuit on top of that and went in her 2.5 tog baby sleeping bag (the type you use in a cot) She's almost ready to move into her big bed at home, so am going to get her and her big sister a SIM each this year.
So i need to get her a half decent one, which isn't going to break the bank as i'm sure it wont last long with little leaks etc! over the next couple of seasons. I would like a square-ish one, but with the mummy shaped pillow area (because she doesn't sleep on a pillow at home and i would worry about her getting lost inside a normal square shape one) and also one with a sort of cotton or fleece type lining because the only cheap ones i've seen look rather hot and sweaty! My eldest has a mid range Tesco one, which they don't make anymore :)
We use a vango nightstar 250 baby bag for our 2 yr old daughter. If I remember correctly it was about £15 from eBay.
We've had no problems so far and it's lovely and warm for her.
------------- September 27th. I'm going away. Don't care where. Just going!!!!
Thank you, i wasn't too sure about getting a vango baby bag as i wasn't sure how long it'd be before she outgrows it?
Is choice the next outlet?? I think theres one at Clacton Factory Outlet, thats not too far away from us, and £10 is a very good price for one of those!! x
Our 5yr old uses a ' Junior Laponie Square' bag - it's just like what you want, square with a hood and it's lovely and warm. And will fit him for at least another 2-3 years yet, probably more!
------------- Bev :o)
2013
March - Pooley Bridge (Pod booked!)
May - Spiers House, Pickering
June - La Garangeoire, Vendee, France
Aug - The Cotswolds?
We decided on a Vango - Nitestar Junior sleeping bag for our two and a half year old last season. Turned out to be a great purchase. Only problem is trying to wake her up in the morning (snug as a bug)...

Snugpak adult Sleeping bag then fold in half you now have an extremely comfortable Childs sleeping bag .
This is exactly what we've always done. Belted in the middle so she couldn't slip down (very short belt so she couldn't get trapped or strangled etc) she still uses the same bag now and she's almost 6
For our 4 yo We have the gelert kids one where bottom end zips up to make it shorter. Its a 3 season mummy bag and was around £25ish i think - only thing is the little so and so wont sleep in it so we end up folding it out flat to use over him alongside a duvet!
My just turned 3 year old and my 6 year both have outwell cloud sleeping bags they have a zip part at the bottom which makes the bag smaller but as they get bigger you unzip it to make the bag bigger. Well worth a look.
