To live without mobiles,iPods, laptops was a simpler, happy time!!
Still is for me...not really sure what an iPod is. My mobile stays in the car for emergencies and my laptop stays at home.
Apart from camping gear of course I don't take anything of great value with me, and I can't do much about the camping gear except try not to advertise what I have and keep it out of temptations way and inside the tent when I am away.
I am not sure that all campers are honest (I used to know a couple of prolific shoplifters who used campsites as their base) but most seem to respect other camper's gear and leave it alone.
We take a portable dvd player, its hardly ever used but its there for when the boys might be stuck in the tent due to the weather. Apart from the mobiles (allways with us) the next most expensive is a digital SLR camera and a couple of lenses. This is generally in a pacsafe locked to a hoop in the bot of the car or it is loose in the tent if we are around. The boys also take their nintendo DS handheld games machines. These could be anywhere but if out and about then they will be with the camera and dvd in the pacsafe.
At night the only things in the sleeping pods with us are the car keys and our wallets/purses.
Thanks for all your replies, after discussing with the family,we have decided to take a lappy for DVDs and our phones, these can easily be put in the car on days out,and kept safe at nightimes....
All we need now is someone to turn on the sun,and away we can go!!!!

The only thing we take with us are our mobile phones. We don't miss the TV or computer
Same here. I really enjoy a week or two without being in front of a screen of any sort. We hardly use our phones either, just turn them on once a day in case there's a family emergency we need to know about.
We started keeping the phones off after spending a week somewhere we rarely got a signal. We decided we liked being incommunicado!
