Well folks, here are the pics from the newly formed "Dead Squirrel gang" outing at the Red Squirrel Campsite in Glen Coe. Jelboy and Torquemada joined me for a few nights.
This is us sharing a beer by the campfire-
The first evening meal was over the open fire - good old chicken drumsticks and a couple of nice wee "broon troot"!
The weather was very mixed, the next two pics were taken within one minute of each other! We had it all from rain, sunshine, high winds to hail stones! The wind picked during Tuesday and it was enough to flatten Jelboy's awning.
Jelboy pointing the way to signal rock. Legend has it that this may have been used by the Clan McDonald to warn of the impending slaughter but it has roots going back to pre Christian times.
We got some nice reflections at The Lochan. The hill behind is the Pap of Glencoe:-
There seems to be an underlying theme here:- spot the McEwans Export tinnies!! Even at breakfast time!!
The wildlife were lying low but I managed to capture these ducks. Jelboy got a couple of Stags wandering around the campsite and we weren't quite fast enough to capture a heron.
All in all,a good time was had by all!
Later on in the week my other mate from Glasgow popped up and the highlight there was a trip to Ardnamurchan Point:- the most westerly point on the mainland. Here are a few pics from that trip:-
Can't wait for the next trip now!

Was up walking in Glen Etive on Saturday with Hubby and 2 reluctant teenager (who soon got into it), Gorgeous day with views to die for, had steak pie and a wee cider at Kings House Hotel before going home.
Will really need to have a trip to Red Squirrel too.
------------- I'm working class, I do what I have to do, to get by.
At this moment in time, I have decided to stick with my original 3 sites, and not drop Glencoe, and invest on some Peggy Pegs to ease the pain of tent set up.
Would love to meet up with the you and other Dead Squirrel gang members when I am up your way in July/August if our schedule suits.

Wonderful pictures as usual, thanks for sharing them, and what an impressive tarp construction (apart from the gap to let in the rain??)
You either have an extraordinarily strong zoom on your camera, or you are extraordinarily good at sneaking in on the animals, or Scottish wildlife is more tame than Danish wildlife...
The only snapshots of Danish "wildlife" I got this weekend was a bored horse and a pheasant's tail disappearing in the grass!
By the way (and don't tell Jelboy), but did he bring a fishing rod? Some members of UKCS are very interested in the answer...
------------- Proud owner of a 1987 Sprite Alpine 370 EK, a cheap popup tent and a beloved retro Trio frame tent from the early seventies, called Giraffen.
Fabulous pics again Jim,I think the wildlife turn up just to see the mad Scotsman building his nylon nest in their territory with a couple of crazy friends (by the way,you have ruined jelboys tale of being 22,unless he had an extremely hard paper round as a boy!).
------------- March- Padstow
April- Forest Glade
June-Grizedale
July-Jedburgh
and lots more besides
Thanks for another batch of great pic's Jim...My fave is the one of the rather handsome young fella in the green cap toasting his tootsies by a roaring fire!!! Who is that young Adonis???
Beljoy....

Fantastic pix as ever - thought about you lot when heading down to Northumberland Friday, back yesterday, passing Red Squirrel sign! Stopped near Ba Bridge on way back - dozen or so hinds in full view of A82 - it was such a glorious day!
