I've bought myself some wellies purely for camping and think they will be coming with us this weekend. Obviously when muddy/wet they get stored beside each other but once dry do you store them one inside the other or is there a reason not to? thanks

We keep a plastic storage box outside in the canopy for the shoes.

Why not go the traditional girl guide option ... welly sticks just outside the tent door!

A stick per welly (we used about 50 cm of a broom handle) hit into the ground, and wellies are posted over the top, so they hang upside down ... keeps them dry, if it rains the soles of the wellies are washed ... and they are close enough to the door to grab when needed ...

So a bit like this posh version,  but just with sticks or old broom handles bashed into the ground!

in the guides we just went on the hunt for long sticks for the above purpose but yesterday in QD i saw these plastic toppers/handles that go over the top open ends of your wellies to keep them together and keep them dry. They kind of clip on... just another option!

I use wellie toppers. Got them from a garden centre cheaper than amazon.

thegills - what a good idea. Kids can do that while me and OH put up the tent. I was always too interested in boys to be in the guides. Maybe that's why I have 3 kids but no common sense??

Hi,

Be careful if you go for the Girl Guide option...

One time our sticks weren't quite long enough - woke up in the morning to find wellies had been attacked by rising damp!

Soon sorted by  plenty of scrunched-up newspaper stuffed inside, then a search for much longer sticks!

At the moment I have no wellie toppers so improvised with a Tesco Bag over the tops!!  Ok so it doesn't look pretty but its doing the job of keeping the nasties out!
