maybe a bit of a long shot here, but has anyone tried  one of these bags to store their tents with,i have just tried one for a king size quilt and was amazed at how it reduced the size of it too,so now im wondering if i got a large one, would it work for the tent, imagine the space it would save in transporting it,think im gonna have to give it a try at the weekend

Never tried it.  It would have to be a fairly small tent to fit into the bag.  You would have to make sure that you did not take too much air out of the storage bag as you would not want any zips etc pressing hard on the tent fabric and damaging it.

was thinking more for transporting it rather than storage, think il have to fiddle around with the tent at the weekend, like u say wouldnt want to damage it ect,but i was just looking at my king size quilt, and to be honest, ive got a gelert 4x4 utah and id say when folded properly its not that much bulkier than the king size quilt, think  i may have a play around and see

Yes i put my vango ochry 600 in one the last time for transporting and it was amazing how much it reduced the size.

had no problem with it at all, pound-land have the very large ones and they fitted it in not a problem.

I just use it for transporting it in the car as it lets us have much more space, i use the hoover when at home and when away i sat on the bag for a bit with the tent in it then rolled about on it then i used the electric pump for the rest and it was fine maybe not just as small however a lot smaller than normal, the bags from poundland are lavander scented so lovely on your bedding. It means we take two double quits now as well which makes a huge difference, i have started vacum them in packages as i would need to make up the beds, i have 2 seperate ones with airbed, quitl sheet and sleeping back. it it so handy then for making the beds up. same with the clothes one for OH one for me. I was the bedding when we get home then vacum pack them again for storage. saves so much room and handy just to lift when we go on our next trip.

I've just done a test run with a vacuum bag and the car hoover. It works fine ! I was wondering how I'd repack once we'd finished camping and remembered the car vacuum in the boot. Poundstretcher are selling lovely scented vacuum bags at the moment so will pop in and get some more now I know that it will work for me.

Just love this forum. It's helped me out a lot

I used one for the first time at the weekend for reducing a tent carpet to a wafer thin package, quite impressed.

Mine always work at home on practice runs & just for sitting in a pile. I think when they're packed in a car boot jam-packed with everything else they very easily develop little nicks & tears or the nozzle springs a tiny leak. Would be brilliant if they were more robust!

To get the Icarus back in the bag we have to squeeze all the air out of it, so I don't think it would make a huge difference.

The bag has straps that you can tighten to make it even smaller, too.
