I just went to the park to test the new tent from e-bay - Gelert cadiz 4 - and a man walking past said "I wouldn't camp there - it's dangerous at night"

I know he meant well but the idea of anyone camping in the middle of a SE London Borough did make me laugh!!

The tent went up ok (took about 30 mins) but it was VERY windy taking it down - luckily it went back in the bag ok - very impressed. It is obviously better quality than any tent i have had before which is nice

Lol, that did conjure up some funny mental images!! Having lived in SW London I can just imagine the scene, having your pitch fully set up, cup of tea in hand, people walking past, bewildered

Thanks for that!

It reminds me of the 'Bottom' sketch, when they camp on Wimbledon Common! Hilarious!

We've just returned from a camping weekend in Callander and just had to share this gem. Picture the scene - its about 9.15 p.m. and we were sitting with a glass of wine waiting for the fairy lights to come on outside our tent when we were privvy to the following conversation. Mum and Dad came looking for 6 year old son who was playing with a group of children.

Mum shouted for him to come away as it was time to come in, the reply "but I'm on my holidays" had us in stitches. I'm sure the smart wit of the boy worked as he got an extra 15 minutes playing time. The owner of the caravan opposite us was also tickled by the boys sheer bravado

You've reminded me of a very funny moment in Skegness.I was camping with a group and it was fairly late, the campsite was packed but silent as everybody had settled down.

All of a sudden, from a tent opposite us we heard a guy break wind, his wife said in a quiet voice "You dirty b*****d". But being it the dead of night most people heard. One of my buddies then said in a louder voice "Yeah, you dirty b******d,I can smell that from here".

The woman in the other tent said in a very shocked voice "Oh my god, everyone heard that".

There was chuckles and laughter coming from virtually every tent on the site.It still makes me smile now.

Brilliant! Love these stories!

You know how there's always one child on a campsite that is a bit of a pain?? Well this one was shouting my 9 year old name over and over and over. After a few moments of letting him shout my son calmly replied "he's not here, gone home". Hubby and I sat giggling that he had waited so long and then was so dead pan! Ha, ha
