I use mini bull dog clips to attach my solar fairy lights to my tent/windbreak/caravan.
I got a set of 20 from Poundland a few years ago and they are still going strong!

Mine awning has a foot wide porch which is supported by three short poles with spikes to fit extra guy ropes if required.
I join three poles up with a piece of light rope on underside then use sprung xmas card pegs like mini clothes pegs to attach lights cable to rope.

While placing solar panel in sunniest spot in front of awning but out of way of clumsy feet.

I hang mine outside and use cable ties. Just cut them off when time to pack away.
