We've had lots of different sleeping combinations over the years and I have a Double Vango Adventure DLX 7.5cm SIM and find it fantastic. However be warned as a previous poster noted, it's definately horses for courses with the airbed/sim preference. My DH HATES the Sim and much prefers the Aerobed. Both are bulky pack wise but I must say the SIM is quite a lot bulkier.

We used Sim and campbed combo over the weekend and my god what a difference, we have 10cm ones and I was roasting all weekend in bed, ended up sleeping on top of sleeping bag one night. One thing I cant fault whether you use just campbeds or a campbed/Sim combination is the storage space underneath, we now are in sleeping heaven and there's no going back.
Alexia10- a Sim is Self inflating mattress.

We have had problems with the Coleman comfort bed. It was wonderfully comfortable but let us down so we returned it to go outdoors for another and after being fine for last years camping trip we were let down this week on the first night. So we are back to the drawing board. The only problem is t that money is tight so we can't afford the expensive Sims. Are the cheaper ones adequate?

My kids use cheaper 5cm SIMs, but I do have a 10cm. The thinner ones are fine if you are lightweight I think, but I do like a bit more between me and the ground. They are lovely and warm compared to airbeds.

We invested in sims last year. I wish we had done so alot earlier. We no longer have flat airbeds in the middle of the night. We have bought the vango delux 7.5cm for me and the OH. The kids have the cannon 5cms sims. Also we find that you are no longer chilly like you would be from the airbeds.
Happy camping

After our Coleman queen raised air bed failure and Coleman's not very helpful approach to repair their exclusive valve, we have taken advice from here.
Was going to go for the Outwell Posadas double camped but went instead for the Kampa together bed as the supplier was doing free delivery if I bought a double SIM, so we went for the Outwell 5cm SIM as I thought the 10 cm version would make the camped higher.
Should be here this week and will report back.
I did find the Coleman air bed fantastic, if I could would love to keep, may try and reoair myself if possible,
