We have just had a weekend at Lady Hayes in Frodsham. We chose it because it is only 10 miles away. It was windy on Friday evening and that did not help two novices, but the tent survived the weekend. We had a great time and found out a few things. We need better storage for kitchen stuff as I was forever going into boxes and moving stuff around. We did get the sleeping areas right and none of us was cold over night. If anything on Friday I was too warm.
Overall we had a great test run and as a bonus found a great local site for last minutes weekends away.
I too decided to kit myself out with a better kitchen set up for the same reason, and am happy with my current set up as seen in this pic:
Happy shopping!

Something similar to you gillch we have just had our first weekend away trying out our new tent. We chose to go local (just in case) and like you arrived to a downpour, but i suppose this is what camping is all about . It was a trial run for us and upon our next camping adventure we will invest in a ehu and a little heater as it was rather chilli on an evening. Looking forward to our next outing to be decided soon
